Thai Yoga Massage

What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Thai Yoga Massage or Thai Massage despite the name is actually Indian in origin, but adopted by, and practiced mostly in, Thailand.

It focuses on balancing the energy in the body through the Thai energy or ‘Sen’ lines. These run throughout the body and can be access by applying pressure to the lines from the outside of the body.

How does it work?

The belief is that all illnesses manifest first on an energetic level, so by manipulating the energy lines of the body using acupressure and gentle stretching we can help enable the body to feel more balanced and able to heal.

Unlike other massage therapies, Thai Massage is practiced on a floor mattress and fully clothed. The receiver remains mostly passive throughout the treatment and the giver works the whole body from the feet up to head.

How can it help me?

Receiving a Thai Massage is a deeply relaxing experience and can help with regulating your nervous system by inducing the body to be in parasympathetic or ‘rest, digest and heal’ mode.

Unlike other modalities it is not considered a ‘therapy’ for specific issues. However sessions can be tailored especially to benefit those who may be struggling with things like…

- Headaches
- Lower back pain
- Knee pain
- Lethargy and low mood
- Restlessness and stress / anxiousness
- Difficulty sleeping
